Victor Osimhen Becomes 1st African Footballer To Win Golden Boot In Serie A


By becoming the first African player to win the coveted Italian Serie A golden boot trophy, popularly known as the “Capocannoniere” Napoli striker Osimhen has created history.

The Nigerian star has firmly established himself as one of the game’s most lethal attackers. This season, Napoli won the Italian top division after a 33-year wait thanks in large part to his remarkable goal-scoring record of 26 goals in 32 Serie A matches. His most recent goal came from the penalty spot as Napoli defeated Sampdoria 2-0 to finish the season.

It goes without saying that the Nigerian international, who was also awarded the best striker in Serie A for the season, has drawn interest from prestigious European teams and will likely be the talk of the summer transfer market.

Since last year, Manchester United, for example, has been keeping a close eye on him. With Erik ten Hag eager to sign an elite striker this summer, United may totally turn their attention to Osimhen if Spurs refuse to trade Harry Kane to a Premier League opponent.

The president of Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is planning to hold out for an incredible €160 million to sell their star striker, but his asking price might end up being a major roadblock.
